Sinema Statement on Israeli President Herzog’s Address to Congress

Jul 19, 2023

WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema released this statement following Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s address to Congress:

“America’s relationship with the State of Israel remains strong. As extreme partisan rhetoric seeks to divide us, it’s critical for elected officials on both sides of the aisle to recommit to protecting our partnership centered on our shared value of democracy. President Herzog’s address to Congress represents America and Israel’s continued commitment to peace, stability, and security, and I’m proud to stand with Israel as it celebrates its 75th anniversary.”

In June, Sinema and a bipartisan group of U.S. Senators urged the U.S. Secretaries of State and Homeland Security to include Israel in the Visa Waiver Program that would allow Israeli citizens to travel to the U.S. for business or tourism and stay up to 90 days without a U.S. visa.

Sinema’s first vote as Arizona’s senior Senator was to affirm the relationship between America and Israel by voting in favor of the Strengthening America’s Security in the Middle East Act. The bipartisan legislation approved by the Senate provides critical security resources to Israel and reinforces that, amid efforts to isolate Israel, America stands strong alongside its ally.
