WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema met with Arizona community health centers (CHCs) to discuss proposals increasing Arizonans’ access to affordable, high-quality care. Arizona’s health centers serve 1 in 9 Arizonans and 1 in 5 Medicaid enrollees annually. Community health centers are also essential to their local economies, employing almost 8,000 Arizonans.
“Our community health centers provide quality, affordable care for Arizonans. I’m committed to ensuring they have the support and resources necessary to keep everyday Arizona families healthy and thriving,” said Sinema.
During the meeting, Sinema spoke with the community health centers about the greatest challenges they’re facing and how she can advocate for the resources needed on a federal level. The Senator highlighted her efforts identifying lasting solutions to ongoing workforce challenges and increasing mental health resources for providers through the Bipartisan Safer Communities law, which were top concerns among meeting participants. Sinema was a writer and lead negotiator of the Bipartisan Safer Communities law, which included a historic investment in mental health resources.
The Arizona community health centers met with Sinema as part of the National Association of Community Health Centers’ annual advocacy day.
