Sinema recently announced $99.4 million for broadband infrastructure to close the digital divide in Arizona
WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema met with Arizona broadband providers, Cable One Phoenix and America’s Communications Association (ACA) Connects, to detail the $99.4 million investment from the American Rescue Plan Act in Arizona broadband deployment delivering affordable, reliable internet access to everyday Arizonans in all corners of the state.
“Our investment in broadband delivers real results by closing the digital divide and ensuring everyday Arizonans have access to high-speed internet no matter where they live. I’ll keep working side-by-side with Arizonans to implement affordable broadband connectivity across our state,” said Sinema.
Sinema announced the Arizona investment – delivered as part of the COVID recovery law – last week with Administration officials. The funds will be awarded to counties across Arizona through two separate grant programs: one for urban counties and one for rural counties.
ACA Connects and Cable One Phoenix are leading broadband providers committed to connecting communities to what matters most. During the meeting, participants presented Sinema with their 2023 broadband goals and thanked her for championing broadband deployment and affordability programs in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
The recent investment in broadband connectivity builds on Sinema’s success expanding broadband across Arizona through her bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs law. Sinema’s bipartisan law invests over $65 billion in broadband, including over $40 billion in funding for high speed broadband buildout in areas of the country with no access or with very poor coverage, provisions to ensure that the broadband service is affordable so that Arizonans know that they won’t be cut off from the internet if times are hard, and provisions to ensure that tribal lands have dedicated funding to meet their unique broadband needs.
