Bipartisan resolution follows Sinema’s leadership in passing bipartisan legislation establishing Glioblastoma Awareness Day in honor of Sen. John McCain and others impacted by brain tumors
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Senate unanimously passed a bipartisan resolution backed by Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema designating May 2022 as Brain Tumor Awareness Month. The resolution supports initiatives to develop better treatments for brain tumors, improving quality of life and the long-term prognoses of individuals diagnosed with brain tumors.
The resolution follows the passage of Sinema-led legislation designating July 20, 2022 as National Glioblastoma Awareness Day and calling for greater efforts to help advance treatments for brain cancers – honoring the legacy of the late Arizona senior Senator John McCain and others impacted by brain tumors.
“Our bipartisan resolution encourages increased public awareness to honor those who have lost their lives and support individuals currently living with brain tumors. We pledge to work with colleagues in both parties to advance brain tumor research and understanding,” said Sinema.
Earlier this year, Sinema led the entire bipartisan Arizona congressional delegation supporting University of Arizona’s Cancer Center application renewal of its National Cancer Institute Cancer Center Support Grant. Researchers at the University have led groundbreaking research in searching for genetic differences between brain tumor cells from long- and short-term survivors.
