Sinema Participates in Honor Flight’s Hero’s Welcome for Arizona Veterans Traveling to Nation’s Capital

Senator flew with over 100 Arizona veterans from Phoenix to nation’s capital region to celebrate and honor their service and sacrifice to Arizona and the U.S.

WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema participated in Honor Flight’s Hero’s Welcome for Arizona veterans, flying with over 100 Arizona veterans from the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport to the nation’s capital region to mark Honor Flight Network’s milestone of bringing over 250,000 veterans to Washington, DC.
 
“I’m honored to participate in today’s Hero’s Welcome celebrating and thanking Arizona veterans for their service and sacrifice for our state and country. I’m grateful for Honor Flight Network’s and American Airlines’ efforts in honoring Arizona veterans and bringing them to our nation’s capital,” said Sinema, a member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
 
“The mission of the Honor Flight Network is to honor all who have served our nation. We are incredibly thankful for the leadership of Senator Sinema and for her joining us on this flight, where we brought over 100 veterans from Arizona, including twelve WWII vets. Honor Flight is proud to celebrate bringing 250,000 veterans to our Nation’s Capital,” said Matthew Shuman, Arizona native and Chairman of the Honor Flight Network

 
Sinema flew with the Arizona veterans on Flagship Valor – American Airlines’ new aircraft with a special artwork design that honors recipients of the Medal of Honor. The Arizona veterans were greeted with a Hero’s Welcome and a water cannon salute.
 
This Honor Flight marks the milestone of Honor Flight Network bringing over 250,000 veterans to the nation’s capital to visit the memorials that honor their service and sacrifice in Washington, DC.
