WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema— Chair of the Subcommittee on Government Operations and Border Management—introduced Shalanda Young and highlighted her qualifications at Young’s nomination hearing for Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director. Sinema’s work with Young dates back to their time in the U.S. House of Representatives and the two worked closely together during negotiations shaping the Sinema-led bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs law.

“I appreciate the opportunity to introduce Shalanda Young, an exceptional nominee to serve as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget…Without Shalanda’s dedication to our effort, the bipartisan infrastructure law would not be providing the historic investments in Arizona, and all of our states, that we are seeing today. Shalanda is a proven leader. She is the right person for the job, and I look forward to supporting her and moving her nomination forward,” said Sinema, Chair of the Subcommittee on Government Operations and Border Management.

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the largest component of the Executive Office of the President (EOP). The office is responsible for implementation of Presidential priorities across the Executive Branch. Sinema highlighted Young’s qualifications at today’s Senate Homeland Security Committee nomination hearing to be Office of Management and Budget Director. Young has worked on Capitol Hill as a Professional Staff Member, Deputy Staff Director, and Staff Director on the House Committee on Appropriations. She has also been working as the Acting Director of OMB for the past 10 months, after her strong bipartisan confirmation to Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget. Sinema worked closely with Young during the Senate Group of 10’s negotiations that resulted in her bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs law.
