WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema urged the administration to extend the current pause on federal student loan payments until March 31, 2022 to help Arizona families get on solid financial footing as Arizona’s coronavirus recovery continues.
“Extending the current pause on federal student loan payments will help expand economic opportunities for Arizona families as our state continues our coronavirus recovery,” said Sinema.
The current federal student loan payment pause is set to expire on September 30, 2021. Sinema is asking the administration to extend the pause to March 31, 2022. Sinema is also urging the administration to ensure that any decisions made on student loan debt cancellation, defrauded borrower relief, or other policies affecting existing students are made in advance of resuming payments so that Arizonans do not make unnecessary federal payments.
