WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema cosponsored a bipartisan resolution recognizing May 6th-May 12th as National Nurses Week.
“Over the past year, we have seen the critical role nurses play delivering quality care and saving Arizonans’ lives. Recognizing National Nurses Week honors nurses in Arizona and across the country for serving our communities and demonstrating heroism during the pandemic,” said Sinema.
“As the largest segment of the healthcare workforce, nurses play a critical role in the state’s healthcare infrastructure. The foundation of the profession is based on strong moral ethics, compassion and caring. These traits are on full display as we witness the heroism and self-sacrifice our nurses show as they care for our states most vulnerable residents. We are thrilled that many nurses chose Arizona as one of the best places to practice our profession and inspired by the talent entering the workforce. The Arizona Nurses Association wishes to thank Senator Sinema for co-sponsoring the 2021 National Nurses Week Resolution,” said Dawna L. The Sinema-backed bipartisan resolution recognizes nurses for the work they do caring for patients and critical role in our nation’s public health infrastructure. The resolution also acknowledges the heroism displayed by many nurses who served on the frontlines of the coronavirus response.
Arizona is home to more than 100,000 registered nurses, almost 11,000 licensed practical nurses, almost 20,000 certified nursing assistants, more than 9,000 licensed nursing assistants, more than 10,000 nurse practitioners, 156 clinical nurse specialists, almost 300 certified nurse midwives, and over 1,000 certified registered nurse anesthetists. Arizona also hosted countless traveling nurses over the past year who traveled to the state to serve during the pandemic.
