Sinema Announces Registration Opening of Restaurant Relief Funds for Arizona Restaurants

Apr 30, 2021

Thanks to Sinema’s bipartisan Restaurant Rescue Plan, Arizona independent restaurants can register for coronavirus relief funds through the Small Business Administration HERE starting April 30th

WASHINGTON – Following inclusion of her bipartisan Restaurant Rescue Plan in the new coronavirus-relief law, Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema announced the opening of the Small Business Administration Restaurant Revitalization Fund application. Arizona independent restaurant owners can go HERE starting on April 30th to register for specific grants established by Sinema’s Restaurant Rescue Plan to help Arizona restaurants recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

“Arizona restaurants fuel jobs across our state. I am thrilled to announce that the funding established by our Restaurant Rescue Plan is open for registration and I encourage all eligible Arizona restaurant owners to apply. Together, we will get Arizonans back to work and ensure local Arizona restaurants can keep their doors open as we continue to lay the groundwork for a full economic recovery,” said Sinema.

The Small Business Administration recently announced that the registration window for Arizona restaurants to apply for Restaurant Relief Funds opens on Friday, April 30th at 6am Arizona time. Applications open on Monday, May 3rd at 9am Arizona time. Restaurant owners can go HERE to register.

The Restaurant Relief Fund is made possible through Sinema’s bipartisan Restaurant Rescue Plan—originally proposed in her bipartisan RESTAURANTS Act. Sinema’s Restaurant Rescue Plan – included in the new coronavirus relief law – establishes $28.6 billion in direct coronavirus relief for independent Arizona restaurants to keep Arizonans employed. Restaurants do not need to pay back their grants and can use the funding for payroll, benefits, mortgages, rent, utilities, maintenance, supplies, protective equipment, cleaning materials, food, paid sick leave, and any other expenses deemed essential.

Restaurants are a driving force in Arizona’s economy. In 2019, Arizona restaurants created 310,600 food service and related jobs and were responsible for 11% of employment in the state. However, across the country restaurants have been uniquely devastated by COVID-19. In April alone, 5.5 million restaurant workers lost their jobs. Without federal relief, another 11 million restaurant workers stand to lose their jobs permanently.
