WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema cosponsored the bipartisan American Miners Act, which secures miners’ pensions and protect miners’ access to health care.
“Thousands of Arizona miners earned their pensions and health care through a lifetime of dangerous and hard work. We must ensure the government keeps its promises to miners and their families,” said Sinema.
The bipartisan American Miners Act secures retired miners’ pensions by shoring up the 1974 Pension Plan, which is headed for insolvency due to coal company bankruptcies and the 2008 financial crisis, and ensures that miners will not lose their healthcare. 1,800 Arizona families will benefit from the American Miners Act.
