Senator continued her call for a bipartisan solution to the crisis at the border
WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema today spoke at a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing about combatting human traffickers and smugglers preying on migrants. Sinema underscored her continued work across the aisle to strengthen border security, stop the flow of migrants to America’s southern border, and ensure fair and humane treatment of migrants who do come.
“We must work together to develop bipartisan, commonsense solutions to the crisis at the border. Solutions must include stopping the human traffickers and criminal organizations preying on migrants,” said Sinema.
Recently, Sinema toured the southern border to hear directly from people on the ground about the critical migrant situation. Sinema also held a roundtable with key NGOs, Customs and Border Protection, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement leaders to identify solutions to the migrant crisis in Arizona. The group specifically identified issues facing Arizona communities and providers which Sinema has raised with DHS, HHS, and White House officials. Sinema continues to work closely with local officials, NGOs, and federal agencies as they develop and deploy resources to assist Arizona communities.
