TUCSON– Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema met with the DM50, a group of Tucson-area leaders who advocate on behalf of Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. They discussed the importance of Davis-Monthan to southern Arizona and the need to ensure critical projects at the base are funded.
“Davis-Monthan Air Force Base is critical to our national security. I’m working to protect its operations and deliver resources so we can expand its mission,” said Sinema.
Sinema requested funding in this year’s defense bill for the construction of Davis-Monthan’s back gate. This funding would boost the security and efficiency at the installation and allow servicemembers increased accessed to the base.
Sinema also requested a provision in this year’s defense bill to fund the Southwest Regional Joint Tactical Data-Link project and to create the Exercise Support Cell, which is required to host additional training. These projects are crucial to maintaining the critical role Davis-Monthan plays in our national security.
Previously, Sinema spoke with Davis-Monthan Base Commander Colonel Michael Drowley about military construction projects in jeopardy, including the Aerospace Ground Equipment Facility. Sinema is actively working across the aisle and with the Pentagon to protect these funds and maintain our military readiness.
