WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema joined Republican Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) to introduce the RAISE Health Benefits Act, helping families save for future out-of-pocket health care costs not covered by insurance.
“High health care costs leave too many Arizona families struggling to make ends meet,” said Sinema. “Increasing the amount of money Arizonans can save in tax-free flexible spending accounts helps those dollars go further and allows families to plan for the future.”
Sinema cosponsored the House version of the RAISE Health Benefits Act every year it was introduced. Sinema’s cosponsorship of the RAISE Act in the Senate makes the bill bipartisan in the Senate for the first time.
The RAISE Health Benefits Act raises current flexible spending account limits from $2,500 to $5,000. Flexible spending accounts are used to pay for health costs not covered by insurance. The bill also allows families with two or more dependents to deposit an additional $500 annually and allows rollovers of unused funds year to year to help families plan for future medical costs.
