Sinema Backs Bipartisan Deal to Avoid Shutdown, Strengthen Border Security

Feb 14, 2019

WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema released the following statement on the bipartisan deal reached to avoid a government shutdown and strengthen border security:

“Shutdowns are always wrong. Today’s agreement invests in Arizona priorities and strengthens our border security. Our bipartisan group worked to end the shutdown, and I’ll keep reaching across the aisle to fix a broken Washington and deliver for Arizona.”

Sinema was part of the bipartisan group of Senators working to end the government shutdown. Sinema also spoke with every Senate member of the bipartisan conference committee and discussed Arizona’s priorities when it comes to securing our border. She advocated for increased Customs and Border Patrol agents, smarter technology and the complement of additional physical barriers.
