WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema announced today that Major Bryan Bouchard, USAF, Ret. of Scottsdale will be her guest at this year’s State of the Union address. Major Bouchard, a Bronze Star recipient, lives in Scottsdale with his family and serves on Sinema’s Veterans Advisory Council.
“Major Bouchard’s record of service is inspiring; he bravely fought for our country and now helps fellow Arizona veterans,” said Sinema, who serves on the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee. “As Senator, I will continue fighting every day for veterans like Major Bouchard and their families.”
“It is an honor to be Senator Sinema’s guest to this year’s State of the Union address,” said Major Bouchard. “As a member of her Veterans Advisory Council, I get to see her commitment to Arizona’s veterans every day. I am thankful for her leadership, and I am proud to work alongside her.”
Major Bryan Bouchard served in the U.S. Air Force for more than two decades. Over his time in the Air Force, he served multiple tours with special operations task forces in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility. Additionally, Bryan deployed to the New Orleans airport in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and he was instrumental in the rapid support for Japanese citizens in Operation Tomodachi while serving in Okinawa in 2011. Bryan is a Bronze Star recipient and earned his commission as an officer in 2007. Bryan retired at the rank of Major in 2017 and moved with his family to Scottsdale where he was selected to serve on Sinema’s Veterans Advisory Council. Currently, Bryan is the Media Relations Director for the Superior Court of Arizona for Maricopa County in Phoenix, where he leads a team of communicators for the fourth-largest trial court in the country, as well as adult and juvenile probation departments.
