Winslow Levee Project Construction Secured by Sinema in Bipartisan Water Resources Bill

Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema secured a provision in the Congressionally-approved bipartisan Water Resources Development Act that authorizes the Army Corps of Engineers to begin construction on the Winslow Levee Project to reduce the risk of flooding in Winslow.
“Working across the aisle and with local Arizona stakeholders, we secured approval so the Army Corps can begin construction on the Winslow Levee to keep Arizonans safe from floods,” said Sinema.
Following Kyrsten’s urging, the Water Resources Development Act authorizes the Army Corps to begin construction on the Winslow Levee project outside the City of Winslow in Navajo County. This project will significantly reduce the risk of flooding in Winslow, and protect the BNSF Southern Transcon rail line–one of the busiest rail lines in the country.
