“John McCain is my hero and his leadership is a constant inspiration to all Arizonans. Our resolution honors him and all Americans battling this disease, and urges the nation to advance new treatments for glioblastoma and all brain cancers,” Sinema said in a press release.
Sinema and Graham also worked on getting a Glioblastoma Awareness Day designated in 2019, when it was held July 17.
McCain died Aug. 25, 2018, at age 81, 13 months after being diagnosed with glioblastoma.
He served as a Republican U.S. Senator from Arizona for more than 30 years and was in his sixth term at the time of his death.
