Sinema gives 1st speech from Senate floor

TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona’s Senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema gave her first speech from the Senate floor Tuesday morning.
Sinema urged Congress to pass stronger military protections for military service members and veterans. She finished her speech talking about the late Sen. John McCain.
“With Senator McCain’s example lighting the way, and with the trust of the people of Arizona shaping my service, I recommit to ignoring political games, and focusing on upholding Arizona values, to get things done for the state and for the country I love,” she said.
Sinema says although she was sworn in six months ago, she waited to give her speech to demonstrate, in actions more than words, how she intends to serve Arizona.
