WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema met with Arizona high school students from Xavier College Preparatory and Brophy College Preparatory visiting Washington D.C. as part of the Close Up program, sponsored by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute.

“Arizona is home to the best students, and it was great meeting some of them while they were visiting Washington. I’m proud to see impressive Arizona students already leading our state into a brighter future,” said Sinema.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute provides leadership, public service, and policy experiences to outstanding Latino students and young professionals, and convenes Members of Congress and other public officials, corporate executives, nonprofit advocates, and thought leaders to discuss issues facing the nation and the Hispanic community.

Founded in 1971, Close Up Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, civic education organization that believes a strong democracy requires active, informed participation by all citizens. They seek to serve young people from all communities and all backgrounds.

Earlier this week, Sinema held a roundtable with women small business owners and the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to discuss the economic opportunities and challenges facing their businesses – including meeting workforce needs, applying for business loans, and recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.
