Bipartisan bill mints commemorative coins honoring working dogs’ service supporting veterans, servicemembers, and first responders

WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema cosponsored the Working Dog Commemorative Coin Act– bipartisan legislation directing the U.S. Secretary of Treasury to mint commemorative coins honoring working dogs’ service.

Sales from the coins would support America’s VetDogs, a 501(c)3 charity providing service dogs at no charge to veterans, servicemembers, and first responders.

“We’re honoring service dogs for bringing joy, stability, and support for Arizona veterans, servicemembers, and first responders who have sacrificed so much to keep America safe and free,” said Sinema, a member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee.

In 2021, Sinema led her bipartisan PAWS for Veterans Therapy Act into law.Sinema championed the bipartisan legislation, which establishes a pilot program where eligible veterans learn to train a service dog and adopt the service dog as their own.
