Sinema’s CHIPS and Science Lawis responsible for bringing record investments in semiconductor manufacturing to Arizona
WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema met with the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce to discuss how her bipartisan CHIPS and Science law is fueling economic and career growth across Arizona.
“Arizona leads in American semiconductor manufacturing. Thanks to our work on the CHIPS and Science law, we’re bringing historic investments and strong careers to Arizona – expanding economic opportunities and strengthening national security,” said Sinema.
The CHIPS and Science law provides more than $52 billion to boost domestic semiconductor manufacturing, reducing reliance on foreign countries like China and enhancing the United States’ global competitiveness.
The law supports tens of thousands of jobs in Arizona alone, and paved the way for record investments in Arizona. Following the passage of Sinema’s bipartisan law, TSMC announced that it would double down on its investment in Arizona semiconductor manufacturing by increasing its previously $12 billion plan to a massive $40 billion plan to expand and upgrade operations in the Valley. The law also fueled Intel’s $20 billion expansion in Arizona.
Most recently, the Department of Defense selected Arizona State University’s Southwest Advanced Prototyping Hub as the first and largest allocation from the law to continue its work accelerating microelectronic research and development.
In 2022, the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce presented Sinema with the Advocate for American Business award, highlighting her role in creating jobs and spurring innovation across Arizona.
