WASHINGTON – The Trump Administration approved a disaster declaration for the Navajo Nation to help the Nation recover from historic snowstorms and subsequent flooding this winter. The declaration follows a letter written by Senators Sinema and McSally along with Representatives Tom O’Halleran (AZ-1), Ann Kirkpatrick (AZ-2), Raul Grijalva (AZ-3), Paul Gosar (AZ-4), Andy Biggs (AZ-5), David Schweikert (AZ-6), Ruben Gallego (AZ-7), Debbie Lesko (AZ-8), and Greg Stanton (AZ-9) urging the administration’s approval.
“I thank the Administration for supporting the Navajo Nation’s major disaster declaration request. With this necessary funding, the Navajo Nation will recover from historic storms without sacrificing critical programs that serve the Nation’s most vulnerable citizens,” said Sinema.
“Earlier this year, the Navajo Nation took on a massive winter storm, dropping 14 inches of snow in parts of Arizona,” said McSally. “I want to thank President Trump for recognizing the severity of this disaster and granting emergency funding for the Navajo Nation.”
