Aug 18, 2021

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act led by Senator Kyrsten Sinema

  • A historic $110 billion investment to upgrade America’s roads and bridges
  • $65 to strengthen electricity grids around the country and promote resilience of power infrastructure to prevent outages
  • The strongest investment ever in clean drinking water—with more than $8 billion to strengthen water systems throughout the American West, including creating or conserving 100,000 acre feet of water yearly at Lake Mead
  • $65 billion to deploy high-speed broadband, expand broadband internet access, and help families afford broadband service

What are Arizonans Saying?

Arizona Farm Bureau
“Arizona Farm Bureau thanks Senator Sinema for her leadership on the bipartisan infrastructure package, which includes several provisions to boost the resiliency of our farms, ranches and rural communities. We thank the Senator for working with the Farm Bureau to include significant investments in western water infrastructure to ensure future production opportunities for Arizona’s farmers and ranchers who have been negatively impacted by prolonged drought conditions.”

Visit Phoenix (Ron Price, President/CEO)
“Visit Phoenix fully supports the bipartisan legislation to fund infrastructure improvements throughout the United States. As members of U.S. Travel Association, we understand the transportation and infrastructure challenges faced by the travel industry not only at the local and state level, but nationally. This critical investment will help ensure not only the recovery of travel, but greatly improve its future through safer, greener, and modernized systems on our roads, at our airports, through improved rail transportation and waterways. We look forward to seeing the passage of this legislation that will prepare our country for the future of domestic and international travel and secure our position as a leading global travel destination.”

Visit Tucson (Brent DeRaad, President/CEO)
“We thank Senator Sinema for her leadership and tireless work to develop a bipartisan package that would enhance critical infrastructure in Arizona and throughout the nation. We are thrilled, in particular, with the targeted $25 billion for airport improvement grants. These grants would allow Tucson International Airport and many other U.S. airports to provide better, safer and more efficient service via essential infrastructure upgrades. These vital airport enhancements are the only way we will be able to meet the growing demand for air travel in the coming decades.”

Pima County Board of Supervisors (Sharon Bronson, Chair)
“By passing Senator Sinema’s Bi-Partisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021, she once again delivers for Arizona and the country. Pima County strongly supports this package because it enables us to remain competitive in the global market by ensuring that we have modern roads, highways and bridges, critical water infrastructure in our arid, desert environment and electric vehicle technologies and infrastructure that will reduce our carbon footprint and create new, high-paying jobs for our residents now and into the future. We are incredibly proud of Senator Sinema’s leadership on this momentous and historic legislation.”

Superior Mayor Mila Besich
“We are incredibly grateful for Senator Sinema’s leadership in shepherding through the Bi-Partisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021. There are many provisions for which we are proud of Senator Sinema’s support. However, two of the most important provisions for Superior to thrive in the future are $65 billion for broadband that will ensure that rural Arizona can compete with big cities in attracting good, high-paying jobs and wildfire prevention and protection. First, middle and last mile broadband projects will be completed and will ensure that Superior can compete in the future for jobs and residents. In addition, wildfire prevention is critical in mitigating catastrophic events such as the recent Telegraph Fire that nearly destroyed our community. Critical funding in this bill ensures that we will be able to prevent fires before they happen and that is crucial to our Town’s long-term viability. Senator Sinema has proven herself to be a leader for Arizona and America in crafting solutions that benefit all Arizonans and Americans and we are gratified by her leadership on these critical infrastructure issues.”

WESTMARC (Sintra Hoffman, President/CEO)
“Maricopa County is the fourth largest and fastest growing county in the nation, and the West Valley is the fastest growing region in the County with 1.7 million residents. Economic development and high wage employment growth is our focus. WESTMARC is proud of Senator Sinema’s work to advance the fiscally responsible infrastructure plan which will provide funding for critical investments in transportation, broadband, power, water and more to support the West Valley’s economic future.”
