Sen. Sinema pushes bi-partisan public transit bill

Senator Kyrsten Sinema, D-AZ, and Senator Jerry Moran, R-KS, have introduced a bill into the senate to provide additional dollars to smaller communities’ public transit systems, including Flagstaff.
A similar bill was introduced into the House earlier this year and was co-sponsored by Rep. Greg Stanton. Both would provide more money through the Small Transit Intensive Cities program which provides more money to small communities that have high achieving transit programs and has seen bipartisan support.
Sinema said the bill is an effort to “support critical infrastructure investments.”
“Investing in Flagstaff’s public transportation system will create jobs and expand opportunities for the city,” Sinema said.
“This legislation will further reward high-performing small transit systems like Mountain Line with additional funding for achieving the same performance measures as larger systems,” said CEO of Mountain Line Erika Mazza.
