As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Sinema advanced $69,008,000 for key Arizona priorities in the annual appropriations legislation
WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema advanced critical Arizona priorities in this year’s annual appropriations bills, which cleared the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee with broad bipartisan support.
“I ensured our bipartisan appropriations legislation invests in Arizona priorities to secure our water future, raise wildland firefighter pay, support Tribal communities, and much more. I will continue working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and Arizona communities to get things done for our state,” said Sinema, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
Sinema joined the powerful U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations where she is securing Arizona priorities and helping bring Democrats and Republicans together to find common ground. The role of the Senate Appropriations Committee is defined by the U.S. Constitution, which requires “appropriations made by law” prior to the expenditure of any money from the federal treasury. The Committee writes the legislation that allocates federal funds to the numerous government agencies, departments, and organizations on an annual basis.
