In a letter to VA Secretary Wilkie, Senators ask the VA to improve services so all veterans receive the care they’ve earned
WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema joined a bipartisan group of Senators on the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee expressing concerns about systemic issues at the Department of Veterans Affairs affecting patient safety and health care services. The Senators urged the VA to improve its services so all veterans receive quality, timely care.
“We are concerned about systemic issues that may be present within VA, affecting veterans’ ability to receive high-quality, timely health care. The Department must get a handle on its shortcomings so that veterans feel safe using its facilities and providers choose it as a place to practice medicine,” the Senators wrote.
The Senators cited multiple examples of the VA providing inadequate care for veterans, including VA cleanliness, improper credentialing, and staffing vacancies.
