Sinema Announces $7.2 Million to Help Flagstaff Transit Authority During COVID-19

Flagstaff Business News

Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema today announced over $7.2 million in CARES Act funding for the Northern Arizona Intergovernmental Public Transportation Authority to help sustain operating expenses for public transit in the Flagstaff area during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Today’s funding supports public transit and economic development in the Flagstaff area, saving jobs and ensuring northern Arizona’s transportation services are ready when our state starts to re-open its economy,” said Sinema.

In addition to the $7,202,736 million granted to Northern Arizona Intergovernmental Public Transportation Authority, Sinema also helped secure a number of priorities in the sweeping coronavirus-response CARES Act, including a $150 billion relief for state, local, and Tribal governments, $55 billion more in investments in hospitals and health care workers, and an increase in unemployment benefits. Sinema also recently wrote an op-ed outlining Arizona needs she is working to include in the next coronavirus-response legislation.

Sinema has also added a resources page to her website, www.sinema.senate.gov/corona, for Arizonans looking for the latest information on coronavirus.
