WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema today announced an opportunity for Arizona fire departments and first responders to receive funding for enhanced safety equipment and training. Sinema encouraged fire departments, EMS organizations, and Fire Training Academies to apply.
“Arizona firefighters and first responders put their lives on the line to protect us,” said Sinema, a member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. “Today’s federal funding opportunity will help train our firefighters and better protect Arizona communities.”
This federal funding is available through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, operated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency. The program is open to eligible fire departments, nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations and State Fire Training Academies, and is intended to provide critically needed resources to enhance the safety of the public and firefighters with respect to fire and fire-related hazards.
Eligible fire departments, EMS organizations, and Fire Training Academies are encouraged to apply for these funds at www.grants.gov or at www.fema.gov/welcome-assistance-firefighters-grant-program by Friday, March 13, 2020 by 5:00pm ET.
