Senator’s bipartisan legislation incentivizes employers to help employees pay off student loans
WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema introduced the bipartisan Employer Participation in Repayment Act, which allows employers who help their employees pay off student loans to receive a tax exemption.
“Student loan debt should not stop Arizonans from getting the skills they need to build better lives. For me, education was the key to opportunity, and I will continue working to make college and job training more accessible for all Arizonans,” said Sinema.
According to a 2018 survey, one third of Arizona students graduate with an average of $24,000 in student loan debt. Sinema championed the Employer Participation in Student Loan Assistance Act in the House in 2017.
