Sinema detailed the wins she secured for Arizona in the annual bipartisan government funding bill and National Defense Authorization Act

PEORIA – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema hosted last week a roundtable with the West Valley Defense Alliance – community and business leaders within the defense, aerospace, energy, and information technology industries – to highlight the provisions she secured in the annual bipartisan government funding and defense bills.

“America is stronger and safer thanks to Arizona’s innovative defense industry. I’m proud that the investments we secured in the bipartisan government funding and defense bills will expand economic opportunities across our state and strengthen our national security, keeping Arizona families safe and secure,” said Sinema.

The annual bipartisan government funding bill invests in Arizona servicemembers and their families by fully funding a 4.6% pay raise for servicemembers, increasing the Basic Allowance for Housing, boosting a program for children with severe disabilities, addressing PFAS contamination and remediation on Arizona’s military bases and in neighboring communities, heavily investing in military technology modernization like the F-35 program, and more.

In this year’s annual defense bill, Sinema secured critical funding for projects at Luke Air Force Base, Army Yuma Proving Ground, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Fort Huachuca, Arizona Air National Guard, and Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma. Additionally, Sinema secured key funding for 5G wireless broadband expansion at all military installations, wildfire prevention and response, and more.

Following the roundtable discussion, Sinema toured TYR Tactical – a defense equipment manufacturer for military and law enforcement agencies – to see firsthand how the investments from her legislation will create jobs and strengthen national security.
