WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema helped secure a $104,000 grant that supports workforce development in Yuma. The grant announcement follows Sinema’s support for Greater Yuma Economic Development Corporation’s application on behalf of the Yuma Multiversity Campus for an Economic Adjustment Assistance Program Grant.
“This grant funding expands good-paying job opportunities in Yuma through skills-training—strengthening the region’s economy,” said Sinema.
The Economic Development Administration’s $104,000 award supports Greater Yuma Economic Development Corporation with contracting services for a market analysis and labor force assessment to develop plans for a multiversity campus to provide employers in the Yuma region with highly demanded skilled labor. Additionally, the project will analyze regional priorities and critical factors for success, examine the border economy between Mexico and the U.S., and encourage collaboration between regional leaders and stakeholders to create opportunities for high-wage jobs and increase local access to higher education.
