Sinema, Kelly Announce $500,000 in Agricultural Workforce Training Grants Awarded to Yuma & La Paz Counties Community College District

WASHINGTON – Arizona Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Mark Kelly announced that the Yuma & La Paz Counties Community College District was awarded a $500,000 agricultural workforce training grant for rural economic development projects.
 
“Today’s workplace training grant funding will empower Yuma & La Paz Counties Community College District students with the necessary tools, training, and experience to succeed in technical agricultural jobs,” said Sinema.
 
“I’ve seen Yuma and La Paz-area community colleges up close and know the important work they do to get students the skills and tools they need to pursue careers in agriculture. These grants will go a long way in creating new jobs and making Arizona’s economy stronger,” said Kelly.

 
Awarded by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), this $500,000 agricultural workforce training grant will support students at Yuma & La Paz Counties Community College District develop the skills necessary to earn industry-accepted credentials to join the workforce. This grant is part of NIFA’s Agriculture and Food Research Initiative – the country’s leading competitive grants program for agricultural sciences.
