Federal grant allows local law enforcement agencies to hire additional full-time law enforcement professionals

WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema announced that La Paz County was awarded a $250,000 U.S. Department of Justice grant that supports the hiring of additional full-time law enforcement professionals to keep La Paz County communities safe.

“These funds will support and strengthen La Paz County’s law enforcement to prevent and reduce crime and keep La Paz families safe and secure,” said Sinema.

The U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Hiring Program is a competitive award program that aims to reduce crime and advance public safety through community policing. The COPS Hiring Program provides funds directly to local law enforcement agencies to hire new or rehire additional career law enforcement officers and therefore increase their community policing capacity and crime prevention efforts.
