Sinema-backed VA Home Loan Awareness Act strengthens price transparency & awareness of veteran borrowers’ home mortgage options
WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema and a bipartisan group of senators introduced the VA Home Loan Awareness Act – bipartisan legislation increasing awareness of the home loan options available to veterans and their families.
Currently, only 13% of veterans utilize the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Home Loan Program, which offers critical benefits to veterans and their families financing their home purchases. Sinema’s bipartisan VA Home Loan Awareness Act aims to make it easier and more affordable for veterans to find housing by increasing participation in the program.
“We’re making it easier for Arizona veterans to access housing resources available to them so they can purchase a home and continue building a future for themselves and their families,” said Sinema, a member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
The VA Home Loan Program offers veterans benefits for financing their home purchases, including no down payment, no private mortgage insurance, and lower interest rates than other loans. Still, only a few of veterans eligible utilize this benefit – with 33% of veterans who abstained saying that they were not aware of the program.
Sinema’s bipartisan bill increases awareness of the VA Home Loan Program to ensure veterans can find housing to build better lives for themselves and their families.
