WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema met with forest industry leaders to discuss the formation of a statewide coalition that brings a group of diverse forestry companies together for the first time. This coalition will allow for the most efficient restoration of Arizona’s forests and bring good-paying jobs back to the state.
“Restoring Arizona’s forests responsibly supports jobs and protects communities across our state from wildfires. This historic agreement demonstrates the forest industry’s willingness to come together for the common mission of protecting our state and growing our economy,” said Sinema.
Earlier this year, Sinema requested the U.S. Forest Service to thin the National Forest Service land in Arizona. Forest thinning allows the growth of new plans and restores resiliency to trees as climate changes, preventing wildfires and conserving biodiversity.
