Sinema and Mayor Diak spoke about how to ensure communities like Page receive their fair share of infrastructure funds

WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema talked with Page Mayor Bill Diak to discuss how Sinema’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs law rebuilds the city’s aging water infrastructure and helps improve water levels at Lake Powell.

“Our infrastructure law invests over $3 billion to address aging water infrastructure, and I’m proud to work with Mayor Diak and ensure the City of Page receives their fair share of infrastructure funds,” said Sinema, co-author and negotiator of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs law.

During last week’s call, Sinema invited Mayor Diak to join future discussions with former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, who is heading national infrastructure coordination and implementation, to ensure Arizona communities like Page can access funds from her bipartisan infrastructure law.

Mayor Diak also expressed concerns about the historically low water levels at Lake Powell negatively impacting tourism and recreation industries, which serve as the city of Page’s main economic driver. Sinema announced in January that a $82.8 million investment from her bipartisan infrastructure law was coming to Arizona, specifically to strengthen water systems and environmental infrastructure. Additionally, Sinema announced in January that over $50.5 million will be invested in Arizona in 2022 for critical drought relief measures from her bipartisan infrastructure law.
