WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema released the following statement on Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s swearing-in as an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
“Justice Jackson brings exceptional qualifications to the U.S. Supreme Court: a wealth of knowledge, experience, and deep appreciation for the law – all values necessary for respecting settled precedent, protecting Americans’ constitutional rights, and ensuring justice and equality to all under the law. I was proud to vote for her historic confirmation and am confident she will serve America well.”
Since being elected to the U.S. Senate, Sinema has consistently applied the same three criteria to all judicial nominees considered by the Senate: whether they are professionally qualified, believe in the role of an independent judiciary, and can be trusted to faithfully interpret and uphold the rule of law. In April, Sinema voted to confirm Justice Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court.
