Sinema Statement on State of the Union Address

Mar 1, 2022

WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema released the following statement on the State of the Union Address:

“As the world watches Russia’s unprovoked and illegal attacks on a free and democratic Ukraine, we are reminded that there is much more that binds Americans, and Arizonans, together than pulls us apart. We stand united with Ukraine and our allies against Russian aggression.

“Focusing on what unites us allows us to deliver lasting solutions, like our historic bipartisan infrastructure law, that will lower costs and improve the lives of everyday Americans. I welcome President Biden’s support for our policies boosting American manufacturing of semiconductors, ensuring Arizona veterans – including those exposed to harmful burn pits – receive the care they’ve earned, and lowering health care costs for Arizona seniors. Arizonans want to get back to normal, but continue to be hurt by rising prices and empty store shelves. I call on the administration to ensure government spending is targeted and thoughtful – because a lean and efficient government helps avoid prices hikes. As we strengthen Arizona’s economic recovery, the administration must take immediate action to address the ongoing migrant crisis by securing the border, keeping Arizona communities safe, and ensuring migrants are treated fairly and humanely. I’ll continue working across the aisle to help everyday Arizonans get ahead and keep more of their hard-earned money in their pockets.”
