Sinema Statement on Voting to Confirm the Nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to be an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court

WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema released the following statement on her vote to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to be an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court:

“After meeting with Judge Jackson, reviewing her record, and listening to her testimony, I’m proud to support her nomination to be our next Supreme Court Justice. Judge Jackson brings to the bench a wealth of knowledge, more trial court experience than all other current Supreme Court Justices combined, a commitment to respect precedent, and a proven independent, pragmatic approach to judicial decisions. Judge Jackson has exceptional qualifications and will serve our country well in the years to come.”

Since being elected to the U.S. Senate, Sinema has consistently applied the same three criteria to all judicial nominees considered by the Senate: whether they are professionally qualified, believe in the role of an independent judiciary, and can be trusted to faithfully interpret and uphold the rule of law. Last year, Sinema voted to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
