New state-of-the-art center focuses on teaching the next generation of creative technology talent, addressing workforce shortages
MESA – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema toured Arizona State University’s (ASU) Media and Immersive Experience (MIX) Center with ASU President Michael Crow. Sinema saw how the center – equipped with state-of-the-art soundstages, audio and immersive laboratories, screening theaters, fabrication shops, and design studios – helps build the workforce of the future by investing in the next generation of creative technology talent.
“ASU’s Media and Immersive Experience Center uses cutting-edge technology to prepare students for the careers of the future – taking our state to new heights in innovation and growth,” said Sinema.
The MIX Center opened in 2022 to give students studying advanced media technologies hands-on experience with multiple different facets of media production. It aims to hone a new generation of Arizona creators to meet the growing need for media and technology professionals now and into the future.
Sinema discussed with President Crow the workforce challenges Arizona faces and the need to strengthen workforce development for creative and technology sectors. The Senator highlighted her support for improving training and retention for the workforce pipeline.
